The Department of Political Science and Public Administration offers two classes, POLS 3163 Intro to Model United Nations in the fall and POLS 4163 Advanced Model United Nations in the spring.

 

POLS 3163: Intro to Model United Nations
 

Preparation for and participation in the Model United Nations (simulation of the United Nations) for students who have not participated in this simulation previously. Includes study of international policy issues, drafting of resolutions and position papers, public speaking and caucusing, participation in regional MUN events.

Credit Hours: (3) (O,W)
General Education Requirement(s) Satisfied: Oral Communication (O), Writing in the Disciplines (W)

Students in POLS 3163 participate in Carolina's Conference and an additional collegiate conference.

 

POLS 4163: Advanced Model United Nations
 

Preparation for and participation in the Model United Nations (simulation of the United Nations).  Includes study of the international policy issues, country background, the history, structure and procedures of the United Nations, drafting of resolutions and position papers, public speaking and caucusing, participation in international MUN events.

Credit Hours: (3) (O,W)
Prerequisite(s): permission of instructor.
General Education Requirement(s) Satisfied: Oral Communication (O), Writing in the Disciplines (W)

Students in POLS 4163 participate in a collegiate conference and may participate in the Harvard World Conference.
